About
Sevadar Foundation Inc.
IntellaRx is not a company. It is a program and registered trade name of Sevadar Foundation Inc., a 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 93-2840861.
The relationship, stated precisely
Sevadar Foundation Inc. is the legal entity. IntellaRx is a program it operates, and a trade name under which it operates that program. There is no separate IntellaRx corporation. An agency contracting for this program is contracting with Sevadar Foundation Inc.
This matters for due diligence, so it is stated plainly rather than left to be inferred from a footer. The foundation’s governing documents, board and annual information returns are the documents an agency should examine, and they are public. The foundation’s own site is at sevadar.org.
What “sevadar” means
A sevadar is one who performs seva — voluntary service given without expectation of return. It is a Sikh concept and it is the organizing idea of the foundation rather than a decorative one. The program on this site is an attempt to apply it to a problem where almost every other actor has an incentive pointing somewhere other than at the person in pain.
Why the nonprofit structure is load-bearing here
Look at the history in the argument and notice how much of it is incentive. Distributors and chains had a volume incentive. Pill mills had a cash incentive. Pharmacies under fines acquired a reporting incentive. Enforcement had a caseload incentive. Payers had a cost incentive. Almost nobody in the chain had an incentive aligned with the outcome for the patient.
A 501(c)(3) does not make anyone virtuous. What it does is remove the equity-return incentive from the design of the program, put the organization’s finances on the public record, and make it harder to quietly change what the program optimizes for. Given the subject matter, that seemed worth the constraints it imposes.
